Carousel Motors Upgrades Showroom
Efficient Technologies began work with Carousel Motors in Iowa City, Iowa in 2015. Kyle Koch, chief financial officer, was interested in the energy savings benefit LED lighting would bring to the facilities. Our team proposed troffer replacement fixtures, tube retrofits that bypassed the ballast and new high bay fixtures. This plan would convert all interior lighting of the showroom, service and parts departments to LED.
Koch complemented the work of energy analyst Stephanie Dowd saying she “did a great job of analyzing our utility bills, putting together a cost benefit and a payback.” The projected payback period was 2.08 years and Koch believes they are on pace for the payback as they are saving north of $10,000 annually on lighting energy and maintenance expenses. The lighting rebates were truly maximized as MidAmerican covered 70 percent of the total project cost.
Beyond crunching numerical data for Carousel Motors, Efficient Technologies handled the rebate paperwork, provided all materials, coordinated the installation and oversaw the project from beginning to end. This allowed Carousel to stay focused on their main goal: selling and servicing automobiles.
Carousel remains a happy client, saying that there have been comments about improved lighting from clients and employees. The aesthetic value is a great compliment to the energy savings they can take to the bank. Currently, Carousel is looking toward an outdoor project with Efficient Technologies.
